The Overall Ethanol Cost

Published by Author at 3:01 am under Ethanol

The ethanol cost is really going to depend on what ethanol you are using for one, for instance sugar cane ethanol or corn ethanol. The ethanol cost is also going to depend on the particular kit that you purchase to convert your vehicle to ethanol.

How to Choose a Kit

When you want to convert your vehicle to ethanol fuel, you are going to need to make sure that you choose the right ethanol conversion kit. This can be very simple, and all you need to do is consider ethanol cost by looking at what is out there, and checking out the details on each one. You want to make sure that you are getting everything that you need in the kit and that you are going to understand how to use it.

Now to save on ethanol cost even more, you want to convert your vehicle to ethanol fuel yourself rather than paying someone else to do it. The process is quite simple. You start by taking your car to a mechanic, and this is where you will need a professional because you need to have the vehicle properly tuned up and thoroughly checked. You should never try to convert a car to ethanol fuel if it has mechanical issues or does not run at its best.

Once you have made sure that the vehicle is in proper working condition, you need to decide whether you want your car to be flex-fuel, just ethanol, or a combination of the two. This is an important decision and your method to convert will only differ slightly but enough to make a difference.

You are going to want to replace your fuel pump with one that excels with ethanol fuel, and then mount new filters before the fuel pump and between the pump and the carburetor. Check your carburetor first of course to make sure that it can handle ethanol fuel, and then you are basically done.

To make sure that you have as low an ethanol cost as possible, make sure that you keep an eye on your spark plugs. This is important because your spark plugs may misfire since you are using an alternative fuel. If you find that you are having consistent problems with this, you will probably need to end up switching to spark plugs that are made for 100-percent ethanol.

This is definitely a worthwhile process and one that you certainly will not regret because you are not only going to be benefitting but so are others and the environment.
