The Problems of Ethanol Combustion
Most people are already aware of ethanol, what it is and the benefits it offers us as a nation. However, just as there are many good points to ethanol, there are also a few issues that we need to be concerned with. Ethanol combustion for one is a problem that we need to take into consideration, as ethanol combustion is a possibility whenever there is ethanol conversion.
Before we speak about the potential problems of ethanol however, let’s start with the many benefits that it offers.
Benefits of Ethanol
There are quite a few different benefits offered by ethanol. Ethanol is a renewable fuel for one which is very important because this means that it is always widely available and we do not have to harm the environment when we produce it. Ethanol also burns more cleanly, another environmental benefit, and significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, due to the fact that the grain or other biomass used to make it absorbs carbon dioxide in the air as it grows.
Problems With Ethanol
Just as with almost anything else, there are also certain drawbacks and downfalls that need to be considered as well with ethanol. Ethanol combustion is the biggest problem to date, and this refers to the ethanol combusting or exploding when it is not handled properly, or at least this is most often the case.
This is why anyone working in an ethanol plant needs to be well trained and responsible, so that they know what they are doing, know how to handle the ethanol, and less mistakes will be made as a result.
Ethanol combustion can be serious and even deadly if people are standing too close by, so working at an ethanol plant is obviously considered as being very high risk. If you ever start working at an ethanol plant, there should be an intense training period that you are required to go through when you first begin, where they will teach you the ins and outs of the plant and make sure that you have proper safety information.
The bottom line is that ethanol is very advantageous and an exciting substance that is considered as being the fuel of the future. We should all definitely become more aware of ethanol and what it has to offer, and most of the major auto manufacturers around the world have already taken on the ethanol trend by producing vehicles that accept the ethanol fuel which is quite impressive, and others are quickly following suit.
