<description>I would suggest home owners first reduce the amount of energy they are consuming and then evaluate if tackling solar PV is right for them. There are so many different ways that energy consumption in the home can be reduced that are cheap and easy to do. We&#039;ve even listed over 80 on the Energy Conservation page of our home web site.

To me it starts with a home energy audit. Many local utilities are offering them for free. We had one done on our home last fall and it was very worth while. We learned much about home energy conservation and the recommendations were specific to our home so we knew what to do, how to do it and where to spend our energy conservation money. The energy audit report included easy to understand charts and graphs and really helped us make more informed decisions on energy consumption and conservation.
